The DED Clan FAQ and rules
written by DED-KampKounsl
Q: What does DED stand for?
A: Uhh gee... DEAD! :P
Q: Why honor based instead of skill?
A: Because skill can be developed, honor is always there.
Q: How do I get in?
A: Fill out the Tryout form on the JOIN page,
then we will set up a tryout.
Q: Do you have ranks? If so, how is it organized?
A: Yes, we have ranks, 2 kinds of them. Here they are:
1. Skill Rank: We have a clan ladder, the better you are, the
higher you're ranked. This rank I cannot change, nor will I try to.
2. Honor/Loyalty Rank: You advance on this rank by being with
DED for awhile and/or by being more honorable then expected. This rank
I reserve the right to revoke or demote at any time.
Q: What games does DED play in (like quake, blood, etc.)?
A: Right now, I would say we are mostly Quake (DM, TF) based, however
I am working on a Total Annihilation division, maybe a Mechwarrior2 division.
If you would like to see a division added, ask me.
Q: What do you mean by Honor?
A: Voila! Here are the current "DED Honor Guidelines"; follow them,
or you won't be DED for long.
A. Does not talk trash about other clans, no matter what they
may (and will) say about us. If you would like to defend our honor, you
may challenge them to an "Honor Match".
B. (In Quake) Does not kill "lagged out" players or players that
are typing (targets that don't fight back are just too easy guys). If you
accidentally kill one such player, you may redeem yourself by suiciding.
C. Does not go for "cheap" tactics in games (Camping in Quake
{definition at right} or doing an early rush with
your commander in Total Annihilation {Commander rush is acceptable
once they are able to defend against such without using their own Commander}
are good examples)
D. Always in want of improvement.
E. Helps newbies when they can. Y: Newbies are valuable, one
day they could be world champs (in that game). Best to be friends with
them. :)
F. Is loyal to the DED clan and won't join another clan until
that player is no longer a DED. I'm serious, if I find out you're in a
second clan, I'll boot ya!
Q: If I want to be in 2 games (Eg, Quake and TA), can I?
A: Most certainly! I would encourage all DED members to try a couple
of different games! However, I won't make a DED division until I have that
game (I gotta be able to supervise ya know, it's my job! :P )
Q: Who can recruit?
A: Only me, my right hands, and game division leaders. If you haven't
been told you are one of these, then please DON'T give tryouts.
Any more specific questions? Page me and I will answer what I can.
Thank you for reading this. If you just tried out for DED, PLEASE (i
can't emphasize this enough) PLEASE follow the Honor Guide! It's what we
are based on, so if we kill it, we kill ourselves.
For without honor, the world is nothing.

Camping versus Sniping in Quake
Written by DED-KampKounsl
Definition of Camping:
A Quake player who sits in a weapon area and kills everyone who tries
to get that weapon, keeping all other players from getting that weapon.
Why I don't respect Camping:
It takes little skill to Camp, because you will be the only one with
that weapon, and it is easy to win a battle when you have a much more powerful
weapon than the attacker.
How to keep a Camper from getting kills:
Avoid the area, and attack them only when you have a decent weapon
(no, the shotgun doesnt count) or when you have the Pent.
Exceptions to this rule:
In many clan wars, you will find that we guard a certain weapon or
area (In DM3, the red armor or rocket room are usually being controlled).
This is acceptable, because in a clan war, it is often necessary to control
the weapon to win. However, in the case of levels like Slipgate, where
the only weapons are the RL and the GL (rocket and grenade), it is not
acceptable.
Definition of Sniping:
A person who guards an area shooting all that go by, but does not keep
players from getting to a weapon/armor.
The difference between Sniping and Camping:
A Sniper allows access to the weapons and items, but is guarding an
area. A Camper is guarding an area where a weapon/item is, and prevents
access to it. To illustrate my point, I have a few screenshots, all of
which are from slipgate.

There is nothing wrong with Sniping, however some people may still call
you a Camper. In that case ask them what you are guarding, and if you are
truly Sniping, that shouldn't be anything at all. |
